Topic of Interest: Radiant Heat
What exactly is Hydronic Radiant Floor Heat, and how does it work?

First, Hydronic Heat, means heat distributed via water. Radiant Heat is heat transferred through space from a surface without being carried by air or other fluids. It feels like warmth from the sun. For instance, you are out for a walk on a cool day, then you are drenched with sudden warmth from the sun! That's what Radiant Heat feels like. IT WARMS YOU ALL OVER!
Now, here is how hydronic Radiant Floors work. Water is circulated through special tubing, PEX Tubing, that runs under the floor. Radiant Floor Heat is more efficient because it heats you directly. The room's humidity is also more ideal. It gradually releases radiant energy to the cool objects in the room. The warmth is greater at floor level and decreases as it reaches the ceiling. This is both more comfortable (Your head feels cooler and your feet are warmer) This type of heating is not new! It goes back to the Roman Times, and is still a very popular way to heat in Europe.

Think about installing Radiant Floor Heat in your new or existing home. The benefits of this superior heating system include, even warmth, higher efficiency, quieter, cleaner, cozier and healthier heating!
Call our experts @ Colonial Supply. They can help you plan a layout for your home and estimate the cost and what you would save over the years.

Item 1 of 3 . A.O.Smith's new Flammable Vapor Ignition Resistant (FVIR) technology water heaters are IN STOCK. IN FACT, IF YOU NEED A 50 GALLON THAT IS ALL THAT COLONIAL NOW STOCKS. There are still some 40 gallon standard ProMax models in stock but they are going quickly.
As you have heard all 40 and 50 gallon atmospheric draft (chimney vented) water heaters manufacturered after July1, 2003 have to include FVIR measures to meet ANSI Z21.10.1.
A.O. Smith's solution is their patented C3 system which admits flammab vapors like gasoline fumes and allows them to be burned off without allowing the flame to leave the combustion chamber. It is simple, automatically resets, cleanable, simple to service and corderite will not warp or degrade. In short Smith has created a really superior and safer water heater and they only cost approximately $70 more!
Item 2 of 3 Due to a dramatic increase in demand there has been a nationwide shortage of 1/2" hePEX radiant tubing but Wirsbo has expanded its manufacturing and backorders should all be filled very soon. Thanks for your patience.
Item 3 of 3. Did you know that you can give your customers instant hot water availability at those far-from-the water heater faucets WITHOUT INSTALLING A RECIRCULATING LINE? Ask about Grundfos's innovative Comfort Pump with innovative thermostatic bypass at the point of use.

The revised New York State Building Codes based on the International Building Code took effect in July and the grace period expires in December. The new Energy Conservation Code went into full effect July 3, 2002. You can find out more at www.DOS.STATE.NY.US. To help you meet these requirements Colonial has stocked up on Low water Cut Off safety switches since they are now required even on single family boiler installations. We also have plenty of duct sealer as called for in the energy code and we can help you get certified for Wirsbo Aquasafe Residential fire sprinkler installations to meet the new requirements for three story one and two family homes.
